India is a country full of diversity in everything, and so is food. Many people introduce Indian food as spicy North Indian curries and different types of Flatbread. The food of India is not limited to that zone. It’s a part of the food. 

South Indian food is the body of Indian food. States of South India like Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana have similar foods with their specialities.

Everything goes with the hint of tamarind, and sweet neem leaves resemble the south Indian food in different south Indian restaurants. Few of such deliciously not-to-miss foods are mentioned to remember them at the time of exploring the new taste.

  • Uttapam

It is presented with a small bowl of sambar, rasam, and chutney; these salted pancakes come in all sizes. Uttapam has a steamed formation made from fermented batter made of rice to give it the required puff and softness.

Simple and light on the stomach, lemon rice is the staple food in all of south India with an infusion of lemon, turmeric, and mustard seeds. It is profoundly eaten as lunch meals in the states of south India.

  • Idli

Smaller than uttapam, idli is the food that is prominently shown when it comes to south Indian food. These white steamed rice batter fluffs deliver a unique blend of tastes with a combination of sambhar and coconut chutney.

  • Upma

  • Thali

Thali means Platter. It’s a platter of all the south Indian delicacies included in small amounts to give the recognition of the southern part of India in one dish. 

  • Payasam

It is similar to the North Indian dish Kheer. The main ingredients of this dish are rice, milk, and sugar. It has sweetness and creaminess with sugar, raisins, and cashews as a perfect dessert to serve.
