In India, people usually prefer a banquet hall or an Indian restaurant with a party hall, but most of us do not know the primary difference. Read on to find the basic difference between Restaurant and Banquet:

Restaurant

A restaurant is a place where a daily meal is served to people. It can be a small/large place to accommodate a few people, and the restaurant’s purpose is to serve them food and drinks.

Types of restaurants:

  • Fine Dining Restaurants:

The expensive restaurants with elaborate menus are five-stars. Fine Dining Restaurants provide a classy atmosphere, and customers are expected to make reservations for dining. They also serve liquor.

  • Casual Dining:

Casual dining serves fast food as well as 3-course meals. It’s more family-friendly with lower prices compared to fine dining restaurants.

  •  Quick serving Restaurants(QSR):

The QSR typically serves fast food, which takes less time for prepping, and is pocket friendly compared to other formats. The design and ambiance are simple, with limited menu items.

  • The other restaurants are Cafe or Bistro, Food Trucks, Bakery, Sweet Shop, Ice-cream Parlors, etc. These are serving fast food or any one meal compared to other formats. Most of them are open till late at night, and one can go and satisfy late-night cravings as well.

Banquet

The primary purpose of serving in a banquet is the same as the restaurant, except that it is available for mass-gathering for charity, wedding ceremonies, and birthdays. Someone hosts all these gatherings, and to enhance the prestige of the host; the gathering is done.

Types of the banquet :

  • Buffet Banquet:

A type of banquet where the various food items are displayed, and the guests serve themselves.

  • Sit downs:

These are more elegant than the buffet system as guests are well situated, and food is served at their tables.

  • Chinese Banquet:

They are usually held to celebrate the Chinese new year, moon festivals, etc. At the Chinese banquet, each dish has its unique value and is served every hour. These are 12 dishes, and guests feel more special about them.

Well, Indians in foreign countries always look out for a restaurant with a banquet hall. This is preferred because it can accommodate a large number of people and present an array of dishes that one wouldn’t get otherwise, all under one roof at a price that’s reasonable and comfortable for everyone to spend.
